Flowers in Zababde, Ward fi Zebabde

Year: August 2006
Location: Not to Forget Woman’s Association, Jenin Refugee Camp, Jenin
Duration: 7:16 min

Synopsis: A group of friends plays on the hilltops of Zababde (a fertile Palestinian village north of Jenin near its border with Israel), enjoying the open fields and clear sky. With scenic shots of the girls walking past barbed wire and curiously talking about Israeli settlements in this landscape, their connection to the land is established along with the tensions their families endure. The film explores both tranquil beauty of life in Zababde and the constant threat to the lives of children as a result of dangerously hidden landmines. The “flowers” in Zababde refers to both the children and the unusual flowers that grow and survive there amidst the idyllic farmlands surrounded by scenic hillsides.

Filmmakers: Sajah Jalamni, Rughd Abu Subah, Laith Trukman, Fida Masharka, Leena, Rami Rateb, Nitin Sawhney
